Cutty Sark Garden

Following its three-year extensive renovation, the landscape surrounding the Cutty Sark had to be re-established and re-landscaped. With so many major events happening in London in 2012, Acre had to meet a number of tightly managed deadlines to ensure that the garden was ready in time.

Specialist soils had to be produced, as supporting slabs were vulnerable to overloading. There was just six months in which to source and grow the chosen perennials, with only four weeks to complete the installation in readiness for the official opening by Her Majesty the Queen.

After this, one further week of work was necessary to prepare for the increased number of visitors during the Olympics. As a result, all the perennials were in flower and the gardens looked their best throughout the summer.
